Environmental & Toxin Exposure
My knowledge and understanding of Environmental Health stems from a course I took with Dr. Andrew Weil's Institute of Integrative Medicine.
Environmental health examines the influence our surroundings have upon our health and addresses the external physical, chemical, and biological factors impacting us. Many of the most common diseases have a link to environmental toxin exposure. Cancers, organ damage, birth defects, impaired fertility, and neurological disorders ranging from Parkinson's to Attention Deficit Syndrome all can occur as a result of exposure to certain chemicals.
These toxic threats - seen and unseen - are disconcertingly pervasive. Even without evidence of obvious exposure, it appears that most, if not all of us, in the modern developed world have surprising amounts of potentially hazardous metals, plastics, pesticides and hormone-mimics in our bodies.
Body burden tests assaying large segments of the US population demonstrate that we all may have cause for concern. Expanding your knowledge and an assessment ofown situation will help you stay as healthy as possible.
Environmental health consultations, usually consisting of just one consult, include a careful risk assessment, an evaluationof your current toxic body burden and environmental exposure history intake.
A plan tailored to your specific situation is then created that will help you control the environmental factors that can potentially affect health.
Environmental health consultation are targeted towards preventing disease and creating health-supportive environment.
I highly recommend this one time consult to anyone wanting to stay healthy in the long run.
